The in-development out-of-body art installation „Altering Ego“ transports visitors into a world that dissolves their familiar perceptions and confronts them with a new, surreal reality. Using a modified VR headset, the immediate images of their surroundings are transformed in almost real-time by a generative AI—a metamorphosis of the visible through the optics of an intense acid trip. What remains of your understanding of the world when familiar shapes shift into cats, fleeting brushstrokes, dancing letters, or cloud-like entities that endlessly evolve? And what happens to the ego in response to unfamiliar perception and body sensations? Based on various parameters this transformation can not only be experienced in almost real-time but also independently altered, gathered and feedback-looped by all of you.
