Event

“Destruction” is a collaborative storytelling game that is played in a group of 4 people. It explores how we're used to seeing the end of the world in stories and games, delegating the apocalypse to the realm of fiction and making it seem less scary. The game challenges players to think about what happens during the collapse, not after. Unlike many apocalyptic games that focus on survival, Destruction invites players to experience the unraveling of the world itself, giving them the power to decide: What do they want to see fall apart? What should be saved? Or do they simply want to watch it all burn?

Destruction emerged from the "Club of What If", a Frankfurt-based society dedicated to analogue role-playing games, live-action role play, collective fantasizing, and worldbuilding. The club seeks narratives beyond existing fantasy stereotypes and explores related forms of imaginative play across other fields, such as choreography. It works toward dismantling the boundaries between play and non-play. In this context, Destruction was conceived as an exploration of alternative realities, probing the emotional and societal implications of witnessing the end rather than surviving it.
