In France, many decisions that restrict fundamental rights are taken at local level: authorisations for videosurveillance, authorisations for algorithmic (aka AI-powered) videosurveillance, authorisations for drones, bans on demonstrations, or the creation of immigrant detention centers are taken in local executive orders. As the French administrations (prefectures) don't publish these decisions in an open and accessible way, we created a scrapping tool called Attrap. We recently launched attrap.fr. It is a search engine that allows anyone to search for these scrapped local executive orders.

We will show you how we did it, what we use it for and what comes next. After a presentation of the tool and the code, you'll be invited to build it with us, bring your suggestions and share your experiences in similar situations.

Bring your laptop with a working Python environment. Workshop will be in English and French. 🥐
