Description Privacy is the space in which ideas are developed, to retreat into whenever you want. This space is not only physical but digital as well. Governments and companies don't want to respect that so we become active ourselves. The goal of this hands-on session is to pass on knowledge about protecting yourself in the digital space. This can include encrypted communication, preventing being tracked while browsing the web and general security advice for computers and smartphones.

CryptoParty - privacy. for all of us.

About

Why CryptoParty?

Privacy is the space in which ideas are developed, to retreat into whenever you want. This space is not only physical but digital as well. Governments and companies don't want to respect that so we become active ourselves.

What is a CryptoParty?

CryptoParties are free and open for everyone, but especially those without prior knowledge, who haven't yet attended one.

CryptoParty is a decentralized movement with events happening all over the world. The goal is to pass on knowledge about protecting yourself in the digital space. This can include encrypted communication, preventing being tracked while browsing the web and general security advice for computers and smartphones.

To try the programs and apps at the CryptoParty bring your laptop or smartphone.

Possible Topics

Depending on available "trainers" we might offer:

  • Communication Encryption
    • Email (PGP)
    • Chat (XMPP and OTR)
    • Mobile Messenger
  • Browsing
    • Browser Add-Ons
    • anonymous browsing (Tor)
  • Data Encryption
    • VeraCrypt (previously TrueCrypt)
    • LUKS on Linux

All topics are offered for laptops and mobile phones and not limited to those mentioned above. Unfortunately not all tools are available for mobiles though. You can find a list of recommended apps and programs on https://cryptoparty.in/learn/tools.

Passwords and how to manage them is needed quite often and integrated into the other topics.

We also help you to install Linux or Tails (secure and anonymous operating system… please bring a thumb drive if interested).
