There is a world outside the congress building

Hackertours started with the idea in mind, that many visitors not from the citiy the congress is in only experience the congress building and their hotel room. But there is so much more fun tech stuff to see in the city. So why not organize tours to add some extra fun to your congress visit?

New location, new things to see!

We found as many interesting things to do in Leipzig as we did in Hamburg. For our first year in Leipzig we have the following tours arranged:

  • Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) (booked out)
  • Stasi Museum (only a few seats left)
  • Letterpress Museum. This is the place to be for typo nerds with an interest in printing press technology!
  • Leipzig Airport agreed on tours, while Hamburg Airport always turned us down!

More information and reservations

Read up on more detailed descriptions of the tours and reserve your seats in our booking system!

How hackertours works

Hackertours is not a tour provider. We just arrange and pre-book tours with different tour providers we think would be interesting to congress visitors. Then we offer the seats on these tours through our webpage. You pay only the price the tour costs and all the money goes to the tour providers. We will arrange to go to the tour sites together and find the best price for public transportation to get there.

34c3 public transport ticket

To get to all locations you will need a public transport ticket. Good thing there is a public transport ticket offered by the Congress. This will help you to get around and to most of the tour sites (not including the airport).

Even better: Children up to the age of 6 do not need a public transport ticket and can travel for free!

Getting to Leipzig Airport

  • We meet at the assembly at 12:00 for the 13:15 tour and 15:00 for the 16:15 tour. If you can be earlier at the assembly, please try.
  • Bring your passport! if you are 16 or older.
  • Come to the desk. We need to fill out a list of participants. Yes, on paper! #sigh
  • Please note that Leipzig airport is an airport. There will be security checks. Don't bring stuff with you you wouldn't normally bring to an airport. No weapons, no knifes, no nail files (full list).
  • You need a public transport ticket to get to the airport and back:
    • If you already own the public transport ticket by the congress (mentioned above) you need an additional ticket for two "MDV zones" to get to the airport for 3,30€ per direction.
    • If you do not own a ticket at all you need a ticket for three MDV zones for 4,60€ per direction.
    • We highly recommend buying the public transport ticket in advance via the easy.go app and/or finding a "ticket partner" for the 4-journey-ticket (which would enable two people to travel to the airport and back and is a little bit cheaper than single tickets). We will be a rather large group with up to 47 people. Any ticket bought in advance or via the app saves us time.
    • If you like numbers: The public transport ticket by the congress is zone 110, which basically is Leipzig. The airport is a bit outside of Leipzig in zone 163. Between 110 and 163 is zone 162. So to travel to the airport you need tickets for three zones. Yes, we hate that zone stuff too.
