Description The Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) contains a provision requiring hardware manufacturers to check all software installable on their devices. Community WiFi projects heavily rely on (free software) firmware they modify for their purposes and install on consumer-grade hardware. Action is needed to mitigate this threat, but there's a promising course of action: Community WiFi initiatives of Europe, unite!
