Description 📡🚽 After the success of the last TOTA at the 32c3, we are motivated to reiterate the famous TOTA radio activity. TOTA is the acronym for "Toilets on the Air" and tries to encourage ham radio operation from the various toilets in the CCH. It will help us to train operation and you even might to get an entertaining pile-up. QRG 430.200 MHz. Stay tuned for more information.

Map of Toilets

TOTA has been carefully designed to make participation possible for everyone - this is not just for toilet users! There are awards for activators (those who use the toilet) and chasers (who either operate from home, a local hilltop or are even Activators on other toilets).

TOTA is now fully operational in many Toilets across the CCH. Certificates are available for various scores, leading to the prestigious "Golden Shit" and "Work am All" trophies. An Honour Roll for Activators and Chasers is maintained at this wikipage.

TOTA is designed to be compatible with other toilet users. Please see our environmental statement for details.

Non Ham Radio licenced

In Germany you can do ham radio under instruction of a licenced operator who has a training callsign (Ausbildungsrufzeichen). Go to the Chaoswelle Assembly and ask for an introduction.

How to work other stations

FM: 430.200 MHz
DMR: Brandmeister TG26224

For calling CQ CQ TOTA, CQ TOTA, this is DK4CKE on Tango 5

Each TOTA QSO must include rapport and the TOTA number. For example: 59 Tango 03

Activity centers

You can do TOTA whenever you want. If you want a pile up, you can go QRV at our activity centers:

  • daily from 14:15 UTC to 14:45 UTC
  • Day 2 after Fnord-Jahresrückblick 01:15 UTC to 01:45 UTC

TOTA everywhere

You don't need to be at the CCH for doing TOTA. You can do TOTA from every toilet of the world. We use TG26224 (chaoswelle++) at Brandmeister.

How to log

We won't accept paper logs anymore.

During the congress you can directly log your QSOs to So we can cross-check the logs and generate some nice graphs.

At the end of the congress, please submit your logs to $EMAIL. The format must follow the cabrillo format specification. We don't accept paper logs anymore because the results evaluation must be scriptable :)

The log must include:
