OpenKnowledgeFoundation
Founded in 2004 the Open Knowledge Foundation is a not-for-profit organization promoting open knowledge: that's any kind of data or content – sonnets to statistics, genes to geodata – that can be freely used, reused, and redistributed.
Open Knowledge Foundation activities and projects include:
- The Annual Open Knowledge Conference (OKCon)
- The Open Definition and Open Data Commons (home of the Open Database License)
- Open Shakespeare
- Where Does My Money Go
- KForge and Knowledgeforge
- The Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network (CKAN)
At CCC we'll be talking about CKAN and plans for a "Debian of Data" and look forward to meeting others with a similar interest in open content and data.
