26C3 GSM Network
OpenBSC have applied for an official test license with the German regulatory authority to operate a GSM network at 26C3. The License includes a total of 5 ARFCN's in the GSM1800 range. And yes, we have applied for a license that allows us to interconnect with the DECT network of the POC, i.e. you will be able to make phone calls between the DECT and the GSM network.
Network equipment
We're using ip.access nanoBTS 1800 as Base Transceiver Stations. They are deployed at every floor of the building and interconnected by a private Ethernet LAN. They connect to one OpenBSC Base Station Controller.
Network parameters
The network will be using the MCC 262 (for Germany) and the MNC 42.
Participation
You have to register your IMSI with the GURU registration tool of the POC. About 10 minutes after your IMEI is registered at GURU, you will be able to use the GSM network at 26C3. Your phone might need a cold reboot (power cycle).
Help Desk
The GSM Help Desk is opposite of the POC.
