Dirk Krischenowski is founder of the bottom-up and multi-stakeholder driven initiative for the .berlin top-level domain (TLD), which will hopefully become the first cityTLD globally. Other cities like New York (.nyc) and Paris (.paris) had been stimulated by the .berlin approach and founded own initiatives.

ICANN will open the window for new TLD applications probably in late 2008.

Dirk is also creative head behind some other new TLD ideas, like that one for a meta-registry for surname domain names like www.maria.johnson oder www.tim.cole. These domain names could be an interesting approach to real openIDs.
