Editor and publisher of Hack-Tic, an (in)famous hacker magazine of the late eighties and early nineties. Founder of XS4ALL, a dutch ISP which played a central part in many of the early battles of the Internet. Founder of ITSX, a computer security consultancy. Founder of NAH6/GSMK Cryptophone, which sells mobile phones that employ strong end-to-end encryption. Organises large hacker events in The Netherlands every four years since 1989, the most recent on being What The Hack (2005). Writes free software on occasion. Tries to stay current on surveillance technology and the intelligence community.
Born in 1968, spent most of his life in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Raises twin boys (born 1997) with Carla van Rijsbergen with whom he has been together since 1989.
