This team ensures our cameras (video angels) and microphones (audio angels) in the lecture shelters are up and running. They work closely with the audio technician from the company we rented the audio equipment from.

Taping and streaming and encoding is done by the crew from FeM e.V. at the last two congresses. They can be found at the FeM Village.

1160 - Streaming Operations

[edit] Setup

In each shelter there is one camera and one scanline converter. Their signals go to the FeM Container (which ist between the two shelters) where they are mixed together and split up to the wmv streaming, mpeg 2 recording and cameras for recording to DV tapes as backup. See also [1],[2].

The WMV streams are generated on campsite, the others are gernerated outside from the WMV streams by CCC Ulm.

The recordings will be generated from the mpeg2 recording machine. This machine just records the raw mpeg2 stream into a big file on its harddisks. Please understand we also want to have fun and not only work, so we will cut and generate the recordings after the camp at home. We encode it to mpeg 4 h 268 also known as the iPod format.

Some software and scripts used at this process are available at [3]

[edit] Video Download

Are there allready download locations for the lectures? Many, many in- and outsiders are very interested in them. Feel free to upload them asap. Thx.

They will apear after the camp when they are cut, maybe repaired and encoded to mpeg 4 h264 (iPod format).
The first one ("Der richtige Weg in die Zukunft" - german) is already available at [4] There is a torrent of that file, too: [5]
The lectures will be released (at least) on the CCC FTP [6] as soon as they are available. Surely there will be on-demand streams and other ways of spreading the word. Atze 22:35, 16 August 2007 (CEST)

Short FAQ for Video Angels:

  • You should get a DECT from FeM if you work at the Camera to be reachable (Foo - 3, Bar - 2)
  • Call 1160 if you have any Questions, Problems
  • Please call us if you have to leave and nobody else is watching the cameras and other stuff
  • When your Lecture is over and you leave please turn and zoom the Camera on the Beamertable
  • When you start your Shift start to film the stage so we can see when the lecture starts
  • Film the Speaker not the Presentation, we have Scanlineconverters
  • You must not change any tapes on the cameras
  • Ask Tabascoeye (3224) if you want to know in which shelter you should work and if the new angle is late etc.
  • Please only film the Stage, no filming of the Audience, even if there are some questions from them in the end of a lecture

We hope FeM are able to build up our audio/video - streaming equipment on tuesday afternoon. The time for this work is depending on our arrival (if you are willing to help drop by at the FeM Village). There will be an meeting at the Fem Village at tuesday 10 p.m. where we will introduce the videoangels to our cameras. A second opportunity for getting to know our equipment and some test will be at wednesday morning. ecki 10:45, 04.08.2007

Currently, the audio on the live stream is pretty quiet, and only on the left stereo channel it seems. So the introduction it's really hard to understand. Would you be so kind and fix it for those who were unable to join the Camp but still want to see the talks? -- Ak 11:26, 8 August 2007 (CEST)
Cam for "bar" is not working or there is a problem with the external stream. --Schalma 13:06, 8 August 2007 (CEST)
Is it just me, or do you have problems with audio? Most of the time, both streams are video-only. --Skyr 16:05, 9 Aug 2007 (CEST)
audio not working on external wmv-streams (!foo && !bar; just no audio packets; was working yesterday); all Ogg/Theora streams on bytebooster return 404 (theora from bar was working yesterday evening, foo was broken) -- eSeL 16:10, 9 Aug 2007 (CEST)
Audio should be fixed atm -- AgtMulda 16:14, 9 Aug 2007 (CEST)
If you encounter any Problems with the streams (no audio etc.), especially if other ppl. also have the same problems then call us pls (1160). Documenting non functional streams in the wiki is no way to communicate with us :-). We do our best and need your help in this matter. Please also watch your feet and don`t step on our Video-Cables - One is already broken, others have partial quality Problems. Thanks -- AgtMulda 16:17, 9 Aug 2007 (CEST)
If stream audio problems persist, try VLC with flag "--ffmpeg-error-resilience 1" to enable wma2 audio correction, fixed the problem here (off camp user)-- r0ckarong 19:28, 9 Aug 2007 (CEST)
Stream audio still buggy with VLC, ic the TU Ilmenau stream is not audible use bytebooster if available. Use mplayer with -cache 8912 for more fluent streaming. If someone knows how I can dump any of the streams from inside mplayer please let me know! -- r0ckarong 12:54 11 Aug 2007 (CEST)
Sxpert (openstreetmap tent) needs urgently a USB video adapter that can take analog video so that the camera on top of the logistics building can be streamed
Is there any place where all the audio/video of the presentations will be collected for streaming/download? Youtube perhaps? --Neep 20:18, 16 August 2007 (CEST)
Please see the section "Video Download" above. Atze 22:32, 16 August 2007 (CEST)
