What is the OpenMusicContest?
The Open Music Contest is a band contest.
(It was found and used to be financed by the AStA Marburg. No longer so: the project is trying to stand on its own few feet now.)
The music which can be submitted has to be licensed under a Creative Commons license.
The music submitted is then judged upon by a mixed jury. The winners have one of their songs published on a sampler (which will be distributed all over Germany, as well as released on the internets) and the best artists wins a performance at a large party. The main idea is to spread the word about open licensing and the spirit of Open Access, applying it to music.
The contest has been conducted four times already, starting in 2005.
