Dragons everywhere VPN and Streaming
Distributed Congress: How about making the congress more distributed? For example by having other tracks at different hackerspaces and linking those spaces together via modern means of telecommunications. We could already experiment with technologies like video phones (ekiga, etc) and find out how they can be useful for casual communications.
Streaming
- The slide stream (http://streaming-26c3-ice.fem-net.de:3000/saal1-slides) was great. Would be even better if we could have slide streams of every room and from the first day on at the next C3.
- Slide stream needs to better announced. Didn't find out about until I red it here. (+1)
- The official streams had too high bitrates for <= 1 mbit connections (Low bitrate mirrors worked most of the time though). Maybe the transcoded cctu.be streams or something similar could provide < 1mbit streams next C3. (or make the wmv streams > 1 mbit and the official vorbis streams <= 1mbit, or ...)
- Maybe next time we could set up a video distribution system so everybody at the hackcenter could get to the raw video and therefore even stream if the official streaming servers go down. This could, for example, be done with RF-Modulators. I could build a multi modulator system for the 27C3 if there's interest in it. Contact me at c a s a n d r o ( a t) ca sa ndro.dynd ns.org
- Would it be possible to throughoutly check the streaming equipment before it gets used? For many years there's a problem somewhere in the equipment causing slowly moving bands in the picture.
WLAN
802.11n 2,4GHz
- It worked almost always when I tried to use it on my phone.
- Worked barely for me.
802.11n 5GHz
- It worked wonderfully always on my laptop.
- I have seen it working fine, but please don't focus too much on 5 GHz since many devices have no support for the 5 GHz-Band.
Wired LAN
- Way too few switches around. Very hard to find wired connectivity anywhere (except the so-called "project-desks" in the Hackcenter). NOC review also mentioned less wired devices (which was IMO not because of the better WLAN).
DHCP
- You might set up the DHCP-servers to not only push a default route and a gateway, but also the congress-network with the same router. This would make people to directly acces the congress-network when using a VPN. I know it is possible with adjusting routes manually, but it would make using a secure connection more comfortable.
Talks
Please give _first_ Feedback to talks in the Fahrplan. Use this page rather as a place for public discussion.
unpublished Lectures/Lecture without recordings
- As this touches multiple categories: Get rid of speakers unwilling to get in front of a camera, especially when this is only announced 5 minutes before the talk because in those cases even conference visitors cannot plan accordingly and falsely assume they can just watch the recording later. Considering the increasingly bad ticket situation each year as well as the whole Dragons everywhere concept that dick move is barely acceptable once and just downright inexcusable when it happens twice at the same congress.
- or if you don't wanna get rid of them - force them to talk during the long breaks
Day 1
- 3696-en-tesla: please create a wiki page and explain whether that was knowledge or mindfuck
- That would be great. By the end of the talk I had no idea who was the crank and who was not.

Conference Recordings
- bessere Qualität
- Original Material?
- Extra recordings of the slides? Those files are likely rather small but might be useful sometimes.
- Siehe dazu auch die Seite Conference_Recordings#Lecture_release_status.
bcc / facilities
- zu viele Personen auf zu wenig Platz (Umzug? Expansion?)
Parkplätze
catering
- zu teuer
- Disagree. Getting a GOOD and BIG hamburger for 3,50 Euro inside a congress like that is NOT expensive... Yankee 10:27, 11 January 2010 (CET)
- Edeka früher informieren, Mate kostet dort 79c, war aber früh ausverkauft.
- the pfand situation was stupid: using a receipt (that some of us want to keep for expenses) as proof of purchase did not work, we had over a hundred (!) bottles left at the end we could not return. They should go back to the old system of plastic coins with each pfand deposit.
power
- Strom in den Sälen (+1)
- zumindest ein Strang in der Mitte zum abzweigen
- I don't agree. Decide if you want to listen to a lecture or be in the Hackcenter and let others listen to the talk.
- The power in the rooms and especially room 1 was removed together with the tables to keep the people out who camped in a room and watched the stream from another room and letting more people in the rooms.
- Very good decision IMO.
- ACK. I think almost everyone missing power in the rooms hasn't been there in the years before.
- I think this was more the tables' fault. There was still power (though no switch, bummer) in that area and nobody camped.
- ACK. I think almost everyone missing power in the rooms hasn't been there in the years before.
- Very good decision IMO.
