"Hello participant, welcome to this Wikipage. You are a chaotic male human hacker."
If this message rings a bell, then you are perfectly spoiled for this project. If not, then maybe you should type telnet nethack.alt.org in a terminal right now!
So what is this all about? A few days ago I started to create a roguelike game called "CongressRL - The Chaos Communication Roguelike", in which you navigate your @ through a roguelike version of the 26C3! Of course there be dragons, cats, blackboxes and so much more!
It all started, when i found this tutorial. As i am addicted to roguelikes for quite some time now, i couldn't resist the temptation to start coding, kept coding, coding, coding, ... 1848 lines in less than two weeks.
Result: A walkable map (loaded from plaintext-mapfiles),clipping and fov, AIPersons and animals, items, funny messages, festival support to read the messages.
I still have to check some minor stuff (licensing, because of the libs), but i promise to come up with a release soon! If you cant wait, drop me a message via the wiki (just edit my page) or email me (if i left an address, i think not).
Also very helpful for the strategic planning was this article.
I just release a sneak-preview, in case anyone is really interested in this project and has read up to here:

In order to play this game you just extract it and run "make play". Happy Hacking!
Cya!
