big accomplishment and would like her to talk to you about her (pending) p
atented formula for what she crudely calls "putting up with the bullpucky\

SUMMARY:Learning OpenPGP by example
DESCRIPTION:Learning OpenPGP by example\n\nSeth Hardy\n\nThe goal of this
talk is to help demystify some of the internals of the OpenPGP standard\,
through example\, so that others can learn from and hopefully continue the

readily supported. To do this\, I will show off a number of the OpenPGP-ba
sed projects I've been working on lately\, including: subliminally leaking
keys in digital signatures\; vanity key generation\; extending the web of

DESCRIPTION:Passive covert channels in the Linux kernel\nImplementation an
d detection of kernel based backdoors and covert channels in Linux kernels
\n\nJoanna Rutkowska\n\nThe presentation will describe the idea of passive
covert channels (PCC). By passive covert channels\, one means a specific
kind of CC\, which does not generate its own traffic. A PCC only changes s
ome fields in the packets generated by a legitimate user (or processes) of
the compromised host. For example\, a PCC can be implemented as a kernel
module which will change the Initial Sequence Number (ISN) in all (or only
some) outgoing TCP connections. The new ISNs will carry the secret messag
e\, which could be\, for example\, the password sniffed by malicious softw
are running on the compromised machine.\n

SUMMARY:State of Emergent Democracy
DESCRIPTION:State of Emergent Democracy\nWhere are we today?\n\nJoi Ito\n\
nSince I started my first web site 10 years ago\, we've moved from a visio
n of cyber-utopia to the lust of the bubble\, to bust and back to a cautio
us optimism. Two years after writing my somewhat optimistic paper on Emerg
ent Democracy we've seen blogs challenge the mass media\, Wikipedia challe
nge the authority of encyclopedias and an American election heavily influe
nced by the Internet. I will speak about the impact that blogging and othe
r social software is having on politics and free speech\, and will discuss

SUMMARY:The Fiasco µKernel
DESCRIPTION:The Fiasco µKernel\n\nAdam Lackorzynski\, Michael Peter\n\nIn
the talk we will present an overview about the L4 microkernel family as w
ell as systems built on top of it. We will focus on L4Linux and secure sys
tems. The distinguished feature of L4 microkernels is their limitiation to
the most primitive abstractions. All other functionality is implemented i
n user land. The system design allows that system core components can be i
solated by address spaces. L4Linux is a port of the Linux kernel to the L4
microkernel. L4Linux runs as a user space application side by side with o
ther L4 programs on the microkernel system. We will present the design and
the most interesting implementation details.\n\nBuilding secure systems o
n top of microkernels exemplifies how kernel design influences the overall
characteristics of the whole system. In the second part of the talk we wi
ll outline how such a secure system can be constructed and will show an ex
 ample on top of L4.\n

SUMMARY:xDash
DESCRIPTION:xDash\nWie integriere ich meine Applikationen mittels Instant
Messaging?\n\nJerzy Wachowiak\n\nIn praktisch jeder Firma existieren Appli
