Session:Global Climate Strike: exchange of ideas and experiences about organizing strikes and demonstrations

Description The climate crisis is an emergency but we’re not acting like it. Especially in political organizations like the Chaos Community this topic has to be more present, more visible. Our hotter planet is already hurting millions of people. We are not only in one of the best positions to provide technology for change, but we also should show that we belong to the people behind the movements like Fridays For Future or Global Climate Strike.

On the 20th (and 27th) of September there will be one of the biggest demonstrations and strikes to mobilize millions of people and end the age of fossil fuels. Let's make it big! This is a session on

- how to organize a strike or a demonstration like this,

- how to be part of it in the best possible way,

- how to spread the word.

Some of us are experienced in political activism. Lots of us are in the privileged position, that we would not lose our job if we striked for a day or two. Lets use that privilege (if we have it) and help people who don't. I am an environmental scientist and I have just started to engage myself in organisations like Scientists For Future and together with some colleagues building a lobby to get my whole institute to be part of the strike. I already learned a lot. I would like to share my knowledge with you, but also I would really wish to have an audience with experienced persons who would like to share theirs in a discussion.
